Frequently Asked Questions about Recruitment Training
Unemployed job seekers and those on indefinite layoff are eligible to apply for this program, as it is implemented in cooperation with the employment authorities. Recruitment Training is a form of labor market training. Your job seeker status must remain active throughout the duration of the training.
The partner companies involved in this training program are located in Uusimaa, or the work can be done fully remotely. Please note that you must be able to attend the training days live in Helsinki, so you should live within a reasonable commuting distance to apply.
Here is a summary of the stages involved in the program:
1. You apply for the program through Työmarkkinatori and, at the same time, fill out your Competence Profile for Pro Growth.
2. We process your application and interview you.
3. We present candidate profiles to the partner companies.
4. The companies interview suitable candidates and make their selections.
5. The training program and on-the-job learning begin.
6. Recruitment by the partner company at the end of a successful on-the-job learning period.
The training lasts for a total of four months. The training days and on-the-job learning go hand in hand: you will study and develop your skills during training days 1–2 days a week, and 3–4 days a week you will be doing on-the-job learning at the company that selected you. You will agree more specifically on the joint practices for on-the-job learning with the company that has selected you.
No salary is paid during the training; instead, you will receive the same unemployment benefit as you do while unemployed. You will also receive an expense allowance for the training days. You can get more detailed instructions from your Employment Services and your assigned specialist there. Salary payment begins once you sign an employment contract with the company at the end of a successful on-the-job learning period. This typically happens after the program concludes, which is the ultimate goal.
We at Pro Growth primarily source the partner companies. The participating companies come from various industries and have recruitment needs for different roles. You can also suggest a company yourself where you would like to complete your on-the-job learning, provided that you make the suggestion well in advance before the training begins and the company meets the cooperation criteria.
During the interview, you can bring up which partner companies and job descriptions interest you. In the end, we handle the matching of applicants and companies to ensure that skill needs meet. We cannot guarantee that you will be selected for a specific company, but we do our best – the company makes the final choice regarding the suitable applicant for them.
No, this is completely permitted. Your job search is always the priority, and finding employment elsewhere naturally takes precedence over the training. If you find a job elsewhere, you can interrupt the training. The Employment Services and the training organizer must be notified of the matter.
A prerequisite for being selected is that a partner company chooses you for their Recruitment Training. Selections are confirmed as suitable applicants are found for the partner companies. The Employment Services confirm the final student selections, and notifications are sent out before the training begins. Applicants who are not selected for the program will also be informed.
